Important Information About Procedures For Opening A New Account – USA Patriot ACT
Section 326 of the USA PATRIOT ACT requires all financial institutions to obtain, verify and record information that identifies each person who opens an account or changes an existing account. This federal requirement applies to all new members and current members. This information is used to assist the United States government in the fight against the funding of terrorism and money- laundering activities.
What that means to you: when you open an account or change an existing account, we will ask for your name, address, date of birth and other information that allow us to identify you. We ask for your valid drivers’ license or government issued photo ID. If the home address present on your ID is not your current address we will need additional documentation such as a current utility bill or voter registration card reflecting your current home address. In addition, we will ask for your social security card, your passport or your birth certificate to assist us in maintaining our compliance with the USA Patriot Act.
We are excited to welcome you to the VATAT Credit Union family. We are committed in providing our members personal and confidential service.
